Hey everyone! Long time, no blog post :) I'm currently laying in bed watching Ice Age with my littlest sister, so I figured I would show this blog some love. I adore the little squirrel!!
Over the last couple days I have contemplated embarking on Project 10 Pan. If you don't know what this is, it's basically for people who have more makeup/beauty products than they need. You refrain from buying anything new until you have completely finished up 10 products of your choice. The "pan" reference comes from hitting pan on a product, you know, like when the tin part shows :) It's quite a good feeling to know you actually got your moneys worth out of a product. Many other YouTube gurus (lollipop26 being my inspiration) have tried this out, some more than once!
Lately I have been having buyer's remorse over some products, so that is why I am thinking about trying this out. I think it will be good for me. The hardest part about it is finding the right time to do it, and since I am having LASIK eye surgery in 2 weeks this is good timing for me... I won't be thinking about makeup for a little while after! (or maybe I will... knowing me lol.) I did some preliminary research on the MAC collections coming out in the coming 2 months to make sure nothing was absolutely worthy, but the next collection I am excited about comes out in May (the to the beach collection). I better be all finished by then! Commence lip gloss applying 25 times a day!

in the exact same color.
I think I would do an "Elle version" of this project and allow myself to buy something if I REALLY, honestly, do not have anything like it in my collection (which is saying something because I have a lot) or if it's an everyday product that I run out of (like concealer, I only use one kind).
Anyway, would anyone want to join me on this project? Maybe if we can all complain together it will be easier!

ReplyDeletei did project ten pan once, and included hair and skin products, because i have lots of those as well. its a good idea, but people seem to get so crazy about buying stuff that they go on HUGE hauls afterwards, which kind of defeats the purpose

ReplyDeleteI will do it I dont have a million prducts but I have a lot of make up I dont need and stuff I use everyday.
ReplyDeleteI think its a really good idea because sometimes you just forget you have something and with this you'll be more aware of trying to really use most of the makeup you owned
ReplyDeleteI think this is a great idea, and more people should follow suit -myself included. I threw out a mascara the other day that I had only used maybe twice, and it cost maybe £8. It's such a waste! I'm also a student so money is pretty thin at the moment.
ReplyDeleteThats nice! I tried it once, not project 10 pan but No Nailpolish (own project). I had to wear all my nailpolishes at least once before I bought new ones. From the 80 I had I had about 55 on, it was about 5 months later and I saw such a pretty nailpolish.. and some others.. and I bought them all.. So now I have over 100 xD

I'm currently working on 2 versions of Project 10 Pan; one for just makeup, and one for all other hair/body products. It definitely takes time! However, I am allowing myself to replace certain items if I am completely out (i.e. no makeup remover = buy 1 kind only).

ReplyDeleteomg i feel just the same way, and i definately want to join with you I think i have so many products, maybe not as much as you do, but i feel i have quite a lot. I actually haven't bought anything since like December, and i'm really proud of myself, but it makes me mad that i wear make up everyday and i have only hit pan on 2 eyeshadows. I have no idea what i need to do to finish them faster, unless i do the same look everyday... It's going to be such a hard task. but i wish you the best of luck, i hope you can accomplish, and when you do make a video, and i'll make a video response to yours when i actually hit pan on 10 thingss...so you can see that i was with you this whole time.

This is a good idea! I might try this out when I go on a MAC break after Give Me Liberty of London collection. Right now it's hard so I'm trying my best to finish up some products and get it out of the way.
ReplyDeleteI've been trying it...but took a break to get Creme Cup as a reward for getting into grad school. Legit, right? But I am furiously trying to finish up some lipglosses. I am probaly moving next year and I don't want to have to throw them out to save space- I hate wasting! :P

ReplyDeleteits defs worth doing! i just did it over and over again because i had so much makeup. i did allow myself to buy things like a foundation or concealer when i ran out because i use the same kind but everthing else i just switched out.

im now even more excited each time i buy one new thing

You would not like to be me! I have a small 3 tiered makeup organizer and I keep it filled top drawer eyes, second drawer lips, third drawer face and I make sure that each drawer is practically empty before I refill! The good thing about that is that I save money and constently rediscover old faves. Hang in there! I'm rooting for ya!

ReplyDeleteHey Elle I think this is such a good idea. I don't own ton's of makeup especially compared to makeup guru's on youtube, but I need to cut down on my spending in all aspects. I've decided to do my own form of this because I don't go through makeup very quickly. My plan is to not spend any money on makeup until the MAC to the beach collection comes out. I am soo excited to buy a few new things from the line. Do you have any recomendations of products from the collection??
